Tour of Salon 94

A private tour of the new Salon 94 by the Managing Director, Andrew Blakely.

In March 2021 Salon 94 relocated to 3 East 89th Street, the former National Academy of Design. Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, gallery owner, and long-time Carnegie Hill resident, worked with architect Rafael Vinoly to create a new and visually striking gallery space, while still honoring the building’s historic past.

Greenberg Rohatyn has long been a committed to nurturing the works of a wide array of contemporary, international artists. We are fortunate to be able to offer a private tour of Salon 94, conducted by Managing Director, Andrew Blackley.

Current exhibitions include:

- Shawanda Corbett uses ceramics to explore the personal, and a wide range of cross cultural traditions and ancient civilizations. In her paintings, she creates a visual analogue to musical notations.

- Daniel Hesidence explores the tension between opacity, translucency, and cosmic evolution in his painting. Natural history and the history of civilizations dissolve and commingle on canvas.

- Kate Millett is best known as the feminist writer of the 1970 book, Sexual Politics. She also used her artistic talents to explore the relationship of gender and power through sculptural furniture.

-Cecelia Vasquez Yui has created ceramic pieces that allude to a spiritual understanding of ecology and a Mother Spirit. A soundscape from the Peruvian Amazon, captured by members of the Shipbo Union of Ancestral Healers accompanies her exhibit.

The tour will be on Wednesday, February 23 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.  We will meet at the gallery.  There is no charge for this tour and all attendees must be fully vaccinated and masked.  After the tour, attendees are invited to enjoy refreshments at the Blue Hill Café.
