American Modernism: A Tour at The Whitney

Gail Casale will lead a tour of the exhibit At the Dawn of a New Age: Early Twentieth Century American Modernism at The Whitney Museum.

Please join Gail Casale, CHV member and Whitney Docent, for a tour of At the Dawn of a New Age: Early Twentieth Century American Modernism.  This tour will be Thursday, June 16 at 1:00PM.

This exhibition focuses on work by 45 artists working between 1900-1930 when modernism was exploding with the energy of a new age. Artists responded to a changing modern world of progress and innovation with groundbreaking modernist art. Drawn primarily from the Whitney’s collection the exhibition showcases well known artists like Georgia O’Keeffe, Marsden Hartley and Stuart Davis, together with artists of lesser note that have been overlooked. New work, particularly by female and African American artists, have been acquired to fill in the gap in the Whitney’s collection.

If you wish to attend, CHV members must buy their own timed-admission tickets from the museum’s website.  Senior tickets are $18.  Tickets should be purchased for entry on June 16, 2022 at 1:00pm by using this link: Whitney Museum Tickets.  Everyone should meet up with Gail in the lobby of the museum at 1:00pm.

This tour is limited to 15 people.  Covid-19 vaccinations and masks are not required, but strongly recommended for all visitors.  Should you wish to join the group, please click on the green register button below.

If you are unable to join us after registering, please let us know no later than the night before by emailing us at [email protected].  This will allow us enough time to notify someone on the waiting list who may be eager to see the exhibit.
