Fifteen CHV members joined long-time docent Rachel Strauber at the American Folk Art Museum for a tour of Memory Palaces: Inside the Collection of Audrey B. Heckler.
The collection provides an excellent introduction to the work of 20th and 21st century self-taught artists, with each of the components of the field represented--African-Americans from the Deep South, European art brut, and artists working today from around the world. See the work of super stars like Bill Traylor and Adolph Wolfli, as well more recent arrivals Hiroyuki Doi and Christine Sefolosha.
