Tour of Brooklyn Museum’s New Asian Art Galleries

Curator Joan Cummins provided a lively and informative inside look at the Brooklyn Museum's newly-designed Asian art galleries.

After five years of meticulous planning, the Brooklyn Museum is gradually opening its newly-designed Asian art galleries.  Curator Joan Cummins, daughter of CHV member Sally Cummins, kindly provided a lively and informative inside look for this group of CHV members.

Joan led the group through the galleries for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean art, introducing members to world-class masterpieces and sharing her personal favorites. In addition, she discussed the processes and concerns that factor into the creation of museum displays, and, with a brief trip behind the scenes, previewed the museum’s plans for five additional galleries that will open in the next two years.

Many thanks to Joan, who made visiting this venerable institution in every way a pleasure.
