Search and Care

Some CHV members have recently experienced unexpected medical crises and/or falls and have not known where to turn for caregiving help.  Search and Care, a local community-based eldercare organization located at 207 East 94th Street, has offered help in assessing needs and making recommendations or referrals for in home assistance to CHV members who might be alone with a sudden need for help.

If you find yourself in need of assistance the best way to access Search and Care is via their website searchandcare.org.  On the home page of the website go to the Contact Us drop down menu and complete the necessary information.  The subject may be ‘emergency homecare’ and be specific in the message; identify yourself as a CHV member looking for homecare assistance and provide your email address and phone number.  You can also reach Search and Care by phone at 212-289-5300 or by email at [email protected]. You should hear back from Search and Care within 1-2 business days to provide guidance and possible resources.

Founded in 1972, Search and Care’s mission is to seek out older people in the Yorkville, Carnegie Hill, East Harlem (and more recently Upper West Side) neighborhoods who need help in managing life's daily activities or accessing essential services, and to provide them the support and companionship they require to live and age with security and dignity in their own homes.

Unlike CHV, Search and Care’s mission is focused on basic needs, in addition to social interaction, to allow its clients to age at home for as long as is safely feasible.
