Tour of New-York Historical Society Exhibits

A tour of two current exhibits at the New-York Historical Society -- "Confronting Hate 1937-1952", and "Scenes of New York City". The tour will be led by NYHS docent Bayla Falber.

On November 18th, please join Bayla Falber, a docent at the New-York Historical Society, for a tour of two of the museum's current exhibitions -- "Confronting Hate 1937-1952", and "Scenes of New York City: the Elie and Sarah Hirschfeld Collection".

"Confronting Hate" traces a groundbreaking campaign against antisemitism launched in 1937 by the American Jewish Committee.  The campaign widened to target "all forms of bigotry", and produced vibrant posters, comics, newspaper ads, radio spots, and television cartoons.  "Scenes of New York City: The Elie and Sarah Hirschfeld Collection" presents works from a promised gift by philanthropists and art collectors Elie and Sarah Hirschfeld. It features many artists including Keith Haring, Norman Rockwell, and Mark Rothko.

The tour will be held on Friday November 18, 2022, beginning at 1:00PM.   It will be limited to 12 people, who should meet around 12:45PM in the museum lobby at 170 Central Park West (the corner of West 77th Street and CPW).

If you are interested in taking this tour, please click on the green REGISTER button below (you'll be asked to log into our site with your password.)

Should you be unable to join us after registering, please let us know no later than the night before the tour by emailing [email protected].   This will allow us enough time to notify someone on the waiting list who may be eager to see the two exhibits.
