Tour of The American Folk Art Museum

Tour of two special exhibits at the American Folk Art Museum.

There are two new exhibitions at the American Folk Art Museum. One, What That Quilt Knows About Me, presents quilts that tell stories and show how quilt makers incorporated collective and individual narratives into their works. The quilts on view are all drawn from the Museum’s own rich collection.  They range from the traditional quilts of the 19th century with square patches and formal patterns to more recent examples which push the boundaries of material and technique, with several incorporating photographs and paintings

The second exhibit, Material Witness, shows how self-taught artists make use of the materials that are available to them and how the material itself plays a role in realizing their creations.

Join Rachel Strauber, a docent at the museum, for a tour of these shows on May 24 from 10:30 to 11:30. There is no charge, The group is limited to 15 and masks are optional. The group will meet at the museum at 10:15 am.  If you would like to join this tour please click on the green REGISTER button below.
