Tour of Noguchi Museum

Join us for a tour of one of New York's lesser known treasures -- the Noguchi Museum.  We will be given a private tour, which will explore select works while introducing Noguchi’s life and vision. The tour also features a special exhibit, A Glorious Bewilderment,  This centers on a short film by the pioneering experimental filmmaker, Marie Mencken, shot in 1945-1946 in Noguchi’s MacDougal Alley studio.  The film is paired with a selection of Noguchi’s’ works. 

The tour takes place Wednesday, October 11.   Plans have changed in two respects.  First, for those who want a guide to the ferry and the museum, we will meet at 10AM at East End Avenue and 89th Street, on the east side of East End Avenue.  Rachel Strauber (our host) will guide us to the ferry landing.  From there we take the ferry to Queens (tickets are $4 at the landing) and take a short walk to the musuem. 

For those who want to go alone, the ferry leaves from the 90th street landing.  The museum stop is Astoria, next after 90th Street. According to the ferry website (press here),the ferry leaves at 10:29 and arrives in Astoria in 4 minutes. According to the Museum website (press here), the walk from the ferry to the museum is under 1/2 mile. The site links to a map of the route.  Return ferries leave at 1:11, 2:08, 3:05, and 4:05. 

The second change is that when we have arrived at the museum, the tour will begin at 11:15 AM, not 11AM. Tours last about an hour, but leave time for the special exhibit.
