Contemporary Figure at Edge of Visibility
Going Dark: The Contemporary Figure at the Edge of Visibility
Carnegie Hill Village is pleased to offer the first group tour at the Guggenheim Museum on Fifth Avenue. Going Dark: The Contemporary Figure at the Edge of Visibility. Occupying the iconic Guggenheim Rotunda, Going Dark presents in a thematic exhibition more than 100 works by 28 artists, a majority of which are Black and more than half women. You can review the Museum program here.
The show asks what it means to be seen and to see each other, especially when seeing takes place across racial and other forms of differences. Distinguished elders of the exhibition, Lorna Simpson, David Hammons and Glen Ligon are shown with a troupe of younger artists who all show the figure barely there.
The tour on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 @ 11:15 will be led by a Guggenheim guide. Please purchase your museum admission ticket prior to the tour. The group is limited to 15. You may register for the program here. Please meet Gail in the entrance area of the museum.
