Tour of Edges of Ailey at the Whitney Museum
Edges of Ailey is a multisensory exhibition that looks at the life, influence and insight into the icon of modern dance, a trailblazing pioneer who defined the Black American experience through his bold and beautiful chorography. This exhibition unites the stories of how Alvin Ailey came to be, the ideas that preoccupied him and the inspiration behind his visionary talent.
The stunningly beautiful exhibition presents personal and archival material, a looping of some of Ailey’s most memorable performances as a surround for the over 80 artists who like Ailey share their own stories of Black America through painting, sculpture and a myriad of mediums.
The tour is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 28 at 11:00 AM and will be led by Whitney docent and CHV member Gail Casale. ALDs will be used during the tour which will enable the visitor to hear the tour over the background surround. Tour is limited to 15 guests.
