Just 18 miles north from our neighborhood are the stunning Untermyer Gardens along the Hudson River in Yonkers. This 43-acre public garden, created in 1917, was completely renovated over the last decade.  It combines exceptional horticulture, monumental architecture, and multicultural design in a majestic natural setting overlooking the Hudson River.  To get a taste of this unique place please visit the Untermyer website: https://www.untermyergardens.org

Our tour will last from 90 minutes to two hours.  We will visit the Walled Garden, the Vista, the former Color Gardens, the Temple of Love and the Rock and Stream Garden.  The Rhododendron Walk and Ruin Garden are optional areas that can be added if we still have steam.

The ground is uneven and there will be some ups and downs.  Please wear sturdy shoes.  Bring water, a sun hat and sunscreen, plus a sandwich which we can enjoy in their lovely picnic area.  There is no café and just one water fountain.

We will meet on the platform of the 125th St Metro North Railroad Station to take the 10:08 am train to Yonkers.  Those over 65 can buy tickets in the train.  From the Yonkers station we can take the Beeline bus #6 to the Gardens, or, if the group prefers, we can split up and take Ubers or taxis.

The cost of this tour is $20, which must be paid at the time of registration, in accordance with CHV’s Event Registration Policy.  Train, bus and taxi costs are NOT included.  If you are interested in joining this tour, please click on the green REGISTER button below
