Guided tour of Heather Garden
Please join us on Monday, June 2nd at 11:00 am for a walk through the 3-acre Heather Garden in Fort Tryon Park with public garden designer Ronda M. Brands. Ronda has been involved with the Garden since 2009 as designer and horticulturist, when she and renowned public garden designer Lynden Miller were brought in to re-invigorate the plantings.
We will explore plant selections that hold up to the high heat of summer and ensure the Garden will delight visitors during every month of the year, with stunning views of the Hudson. Check the website ahead of time for a sneak preview of some of the highlights at https://www.forttryonparktrust.org/plant-finder/.
Meet at 11 am at the Margaret Corbin Circle entrance to the Heather Garden (where Cabrini and Fort Washington Avenue meet, near the 190th Street A train subway stop.
The Garden is a stroll garden (mostly in full sun). We will be standing/walking during the one-hour tour; there are no benches. Wear sturdy shoes and bring a water bottle, sunscreen, sun hat, and perhaps an umbrella. The tour is rain or shine, but we will cancel in heavy rain or thunderstorms. There will be an optional lunch at the nearby Dutch Baby Bakery (https://www.dutchbabybakery.com/). Please note that there is a separate registration for lunch on the CHV Events page.
