Tour of Musical Instruments at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Come and be inspired by instruments that are works of art that create the art of music! Explore the Musical Instruments Galleries at the MET on Thursday, May 21.The Met is home to one of the world’s most diverse and important collections of musical instruments from five continents spanning four thousand years wherever humans created music of whatever materials were at hand.

On our private guided tour we will admire and listen to a great variety of musical instruments from different civilizations and time periods, starting with ceramic trumpets from 5 th century Peru. We will marvel at the 16th century Italian violin that set the pattern for all to follow, the world’s oldest piano, and a 20th century instrument played without the use of hands or lips. In addition, you will delight in the refined beauty of instruments from the Middle and Far East as well as from Africa. CHV tour of the Musical Instruments Galleries. Thursday, May 21, 3 pm.
